Enhanced Performance Training
"Training with intensity, play with passion".

The physical components (i.e speedy, endurance, power, etc.) of soccer are critical to achieving maximum performance and competing at the highest level. Therefore, the WDMSC Enhanced Performance Program (EPT) program is designed for players in the U12-U18 age groups. The program focuses on achieving peak physical performance, with emphasis on soccer specific fitness and conditioning. Watch the EPT video to see the players in action.

The program is directed by WDMSC professional coaches Josh McAllister and Justin Vorster. This program is an essential for players seeking to achieve their performance potential. This is also a great opportunity for high school players to get involved in a comprehensive preseason training program.

Program Overview: the primary focus of EPT is to provide each individual player with the tools and resources to fulfill their own potential. There is no doubt in today’s game that if a player ignores the physical side of the game, then they will fall short of that goal.

Q: What is Enhanced Performance Training?

A: Enhanced Performance Training is a soccer specific physical training program designed to help players achieve their performance potential. Each EPT session will be specific to the age group and will be tailored to help promote soccer specific physical gains. This is essential as players have different strengths and weaknesses and develop at different rates and stages. This is why our qualified staff will work closely with each player to ensure that they are obtaining optimum results within each training session.

Q: What types of training can you expect from Enhanced Performance Training?

A: There are 7 key components to a comprehensive soccer specific training session.
  1. Prehabilitation - A proactive means of training and conditioning often-injured areas of the body (shoulders, hips, ankles) to prevent injuries requiring rehabilitation.
  2. Dynamic Preparation - A series of dynamic movements that prepare your nervous system for physical activity, strengthen your body, and improve balance, mobility and stability with the goal of enhancing performance and decreasing potential for injury.
  3. Plyometrics – A series of jumping exercises (up and down, side to side, twisting back and forth) that stimulate strength and power gains and improve the ability to rapidly absorb and produce force (acceleration & deceleration)
  4. Soccer Specific Speed - A training component that focuses on speed techniques that are specific to soccer and improve quickness, agility, speed, and power while reducing potential to injury.
  5. Strength Movement based exercises focused on building strength, via total body strength exercises.
  6. Energy System Development - A progressive interval based approach to cardiovascular training geared towards improving overall endurance, strength, and power.
  7. Regeneration – A series of active rest exercises performed with the goal of expediting recovery from training.
